For Bethany Joy Madrid, every brushstroke is a way to give back. Before she was known for her art, Bethany spent years as a high school youth minister, walking alongside teenagers through some of the most formative seasons of their lives. That calling to show up for people, to listen, encourage, and point toward hope, never left her. It simply found a new canvas.
Today, as an artist and a mother to two boys, Bethany creates work that goes beyond the gallery wall. She partners with local charities and community organizations because she believes art can do more than decorate a room. It can rally a crowd, fund a mission, and remind people that they belong to something bigger than themselves.
Her live paintings show this best. In front of an audience, a blank canvas turns into a finished piece over the course of an evening. Guests watch the work take shape, and when it goes up for auction, the proceeds go straight to causes that serve her neighbors. Whether she's donating original artwork, painting live at a fundraiser, or collaborating on partnership events, Bethany sees each opportunity as a chance to turn creativity into real, tangible good.
As a mom, she knows the kind of example she wants to set for her sons: that talent is a gift meant to be shared, and that a community grows stronger when each person gives what they have. For Bethany, that gift is art, and she gives it freely.
